<p>The present application is an apparatus and a method for attaching a bar end (22) to an end portion (12) of a steerer bar (10) to construct a bicycle handlebar system, where the end portion (12) of the steerer bar (10) is a thin wall hollow tubing (14) with two opposite surfaces including an exterior surface (16) and an interior surface (18). The present application bar end assembly (20) includes a bar end (22) having fastening assembly (30,40,60) engageable to one of the two opposite surfaces (16,18) of the hollow tubing (14) for attaching the bar end (22) to the steerer bar (10), and an extended brace (80) engageable to another one of the two opposite surfaces (16,18) of the hollow tubing (14) for supporting the hollow tubing (14), so that it will not be damaged by any stress exerted by the fastening assembly (30,40,60). <IMAGE></p> |
