PURPOSE: To provide an optical connector provided with an inexpensive ferrule for holding an optical fiber at a prescribed position so as to connect it with the optical fiber of an opposite optical connector or the like. CONSTITUTION: This optical connector 10 is provided with an inexpensive ferrule assembly 20 for protecting, supporting and positioning the optical fiber. The ferrule assembly 20 is composed of an external ferrule body 34 provided with an alignment passage 34b and an internal supporting member 32 provided with a center channel 32b for inserting the optical fiber. The ferrule assembly 20 is especially effective as the non-adhesion type optical connector of the optical fiber of ferrule peeling.
