Compounds with the general formula I: <IMAGE> where R represents simple substituents, and R1 is other than hydrogen and C1-C4-alkyl with the exception of those compounds which are precursor stages for enzymatic formation of skatole, have proven to lower the production of skatole in intestinal material from pigs, so that they are suitable as or in feed supplement for pigs to improve the odour of pork from pigs which produce meat with deviant odour properties. <IMAGE>
