PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal light bulb with improved light response time. CONSTITUTION: This light bulb is provided with a layer structure provided with a pair of transparent conductive electrodes 42 and 70, a liquid crystal layer 52, a dielectric mirror layer 48 and a light sensing layer 44. The liquid crystal layer 52 is provided with first and second alignment layers 50 and 68 and a vertical alignment liquid crystal mixture axially twisted with an axis vertical to the alignment layer as a center filled in a confined space between the alignment layers. The alignment layers 50 and 68 are respectively provided with a first alignment groove and a second alignment groove extended in an alignment direction for mutually forming an angle on the layers. The liquid crystal layer, the mirror layer and the light sensing layer are all held between the transparent conductive electrodes, the angle of the first alignment groove and the second alignment groove is turned to be in the range of 45-90 degrees and thus, the rising time of light signals is reduced. |
