The nailing machine may be used to lay tongue-and-groove flooring on a substrate (7) and is used to drive nails (1) at an angle from the corner at the base of the tongue (5A) on each plank (4). A supporting head (10) on the machine grips the tongue on the plank being fastened to prevent it being subjected to excessive bending forces. The machine has a magazine full of nails and a motor drive (8) controlled by a trigger (14). A hammer (12) set at an angle drives the nails. The supporting head surrounds the tongue (5A) on three sides.
