The method and the equipment perform simultaneously the excavation of ground, the advancement of the equipment and the construction of a prefaricated culvert box for tunnelling. The equipment (1) includes drive members (9,9') mounted on guide plates (2,2') and connected to the piston rods (7') of cylinders (7), the hydraulic cylinders (7) for excavation, and cylinders (8) for reaction force, installed on the forward sides of a work room (3) having gravel tanks (4,4'), a passage (6) for discharging culvert boxes (23) under the tank (4'), crane carriers (18,18',19,19') moving an rails (17,17'), and grinders having bits on the front ends. In operation, the cylinders (7) are actuated to drive the members (9,9') into ground with the rods (7') and set partitions to remove the earth between the partitions. Then, the rear partition is removed for the cylinder (8) to actuate its rod to push the culvert (23) to the passage (6). The culvert boxes are set in series while the reactive force advances the main body. The advantage is the simple construction of the equipment and the reduction of cost.
