Fully enclosed scroll centrifuge for clarification or separation of solid-liquid mixtures, has a bowl which is provided with, a solids discharge outlet at one end and a liquid outlet at its other end and a feed screw arranged central to and rotating with a speed differential relative to the bowl, with at least part of its surface immersed in the liquor present in the bowl during operation. The novelty is that the screw (3) in a first region adjacent to the liquid outlet (6), has a diameter (D1) which is smaller than the diameter (F) of the operating liquid ring within the bowl (1). ADVANTAGE - Improved system for partial flotation support of rotating scroll in a horizontal decanter centrifuge with reduction of mechanical stress without incursion of liquid drag and reduction of product clarity.
