Treating inflammation with cell wall fractions - of Gram positive eubacteria, esp. for topical application to the skin

Use of a cell wall fraction (A) from gram-positive eubacteria for treating inflammation is new. Pref. (A) is prepd. by lysing the cells; sepn. of cytoplasm and enzymatic hydrolysis of the cell wall. The bacteria have G+C content of their DNA greater than 50% and are not pathogenic; specified one Micrococcus luteus (esp.); Cellulomonas flavigena and Arthrobacter globiformis. USE/ADVANTAGE - (A) are esp. used to treat skin disorder, partic. to protect the skin against accelerated aging caused by UV light or irritants. Compared with known plant extracts, (A) can be produced more simply and more reproducibly. Unlike corticosteroid and acetylsalicylic acid compsns., topical (A)-contg. formulations have no systemic activity.
