Three preformed units are designed for installation inside the car in a given sequence. The first is an injection moulding with cladding (1) and acting as the firewall between engine bay and cabin. It includes mounting points for engine bay components. Next comes the gear shift console (2) covering part of the transmission tunnel and finally comes the dashboard console (3) with mountings for instruments and switches. The first moulding also carries mountings for the heating or air-conditioning system pipework and the wiring harness. The second moulding has a compartment for a stereo system. ADVANTAGE - Reduced assembly time by allowing exchange and combination of separate components after main mounting on prodn. line.
