Cd-free, coloured tempered glass based on an Al2O3-SiO2 base glass comprises 60-70 (wt. %) SiO2, 18-25 Al2O3, 0-10 GeO2, 0.3-3 ZrO2, 0-3 HfO2, 1-4 TiO2, 1-5 Li2O, 0-1 SnO2, 0-1 Nb2O5, 0-1 Ta2O5; 0-0.5 MoO3, 0-0.5 WO3, 0-2 M2O (where M = Na, K, Rb, Cs, and M2O+Li2O is at least 2), 0.5-4 ZnO, 0-4 MgO, 0-4 CaO, 0-4 SrO, 0-4 BaO, 1-10 MnO (where M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba+Zn), 0-1 B2O3, 0-1.5 P2O5, 0-5 Ln2O3, 0-0.5 Cr2O3, 0.2-3 MnO2, 0-0.6 Fe2O3, 0-0.5 CoO, 0.1-3 NiO, 0-1 CeO2, 0-1 V2O5, and 0-0.5 CuO. The sum of the coloured oxides (Cr2O3, MnO2, Fe2O3, CoO, NiO, CeO2, V2O5, CuO) is 0.5 or more. USE - Used for light display units.
