Leather surface polishing - using polishing tool with porous and soft elastic polishing surface

To polish leather and similar materials, as the leather material is moved forwards through the polishing station, its surface is brought into contact with a porous and soft elastic polishing tool surface. Also claimed is a polishing tool with a polishing surface formed by at least one solid material which is at least partially porous with a soft elasticity. Pref. the leather is moved along at least one polishing tool, which is under pressure, for the polishing surface to bear against the leather surface, with a relative movement parallel to the leather surface, with a relative speed to the leather surface of at least 10.5 m/s and pref. at least 11.0 m/s and max. 23.3 m/s and pref. max. 19.0 m/s. the pressure applied by the polishing surface against the leather is at least at 85 bar and pref. at least 105 bar and esp. at least 120 bar. USE/ADVANTAGE - The leather polishing is for use in tanning and leather-working industries. The polishing action gives an effective treatment to the leather surface, with reduced effort and high productivity.
