The bolster or cushion is made in several sections (10,11,12) which may be piled one on top of the other. The lowermost section (10) rests on a grid made of wooden slats (23),a nd the ends of the slats may rest on a padding made of coconut fibre. Three cushion or bolster sections may be hinged together (40,41) with the hinges at opposite ends of the sections. The top cushion (12) may be hinged up to lie against a solid backrest (90) to form a padded backrest. Each section of the cushion may contain slats and may be padded with foam material.
