A zirconium dioxide ceramic contains 5-30 wt. % spinel (MgAl204) where the ZrO2 is stabilised with 4-12 aq. % MgO and/or Y2O3. The ceramic has a density of 4.9-5.7 g/cm3, a breaking strength (03B) of more than 550 MPa, a Vickers hardness (HV 0.5) of 1300-1600, a surface porosity of less than 2.5% a pore dia. on the function surface of less than 4 microns, and a thermo-charge resistance of 250-450 K. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in wear part for triological uses, in paper machines, e.g. sieving tables, foils, deflectors, suction coatings, seals, scrapers; as wire and thread take-up parts; and as high pressure pistons in fluid pumps. The ceramic has high strength of good thermal resistance.
