The process for solidifying inorganic waste prods. from metal surface treatment dissolved in water involves mixing the liquid waste products with calcium oxide in a reaction vessel. Before introduction of calcium oxide, a vacuum is produced in the reaction vessel (2). The exhaust air (during evacuation) from the reaction vessel goes to the condenser, and thence to an acid washer for removal of alkaline constituents. Subsequently, the air passes through compost and active carbon filters, before being returned to atmosphere. The appts. includes a vacuum pump (14) connected to the reaction vessel (2). A condenser and an acid washer follow the vacuum pump. The pump returns condensate from the condenser, the acid washer and the compost filter into the reaction vessel (2). An extraction unit for solids is located at the bottom of the reaction vessel. USE/ADVANTAGE - In metal surface treatment plants. Waste products are safely and reliably solidified and prepd. for final storage.
