A coin checking system (1) has the coin entered (6a) and after checking is directed to one of two acceptance channels (1a,1b) or to a reject channel (1c). The correct coins are then transferred into vertical guide ducts (2a,2b) that are positioned and retained in a main frame (10) having rolled edges (11a,11b). A facility is built into the guide duct assembly as a protection against the use of coins attached to a length of thread. Heated filaments (4a,4b) on the projecting arms of a plate (5) cause separation of the threads from the entered coin. The plate is secured to the sides of the main frame. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prevents repeated use by coin at end of thread.
