The supporting frame (8) under the horizontal portion (2) of the desk carries two or more supporting bars (11) to which the adaptor beam (6) is fitted. The beam has an elliptical cross-section with its major axis inclined at 20 or 30 deg. to the vertical. An accessory surface (3) is releasably coupled to the beam by the adaptor (5) which incorporates a recess shaped to match the beam, and a slider movable in a groove along its central axis. Other fittings may be connected by means of a tapered insert (14). ADVANTAGE - Allows most flexible attachment of all possible accessories such as depository tables, additional VDU desks or monitor stands.
