Towing cable for target towed by aircraft - with cable strands for absorbing tensile and compressive forces protecting optical fibre cable

The towing cable (1) has at least one stabilising strand (2) receiving both tensile and compressive forces enclosed in a common sheathing (11) together with an optical fibre cable (3) for signal and data transmission between the towed target and the aircraft. The stabilising strand comprises a combination of different elements for receiving the tensile and compressive forces, provided by non-metallic elements and joining linkages providing an open cinematic chain and further non-metallic elements receiving the tensile forces. ADVANTAGE - Protects optical fibre cable from compressive and tensile forces.
