The device prevents aquaplaning of the tyres when landing in wet conditions. A nozzle (1) is fitted in front of the respective tyres (3) of the aircraft and emits compressed air to disperse the water on the runway and give the tyres a comparatively dry surface to run on. The nozzle receives its compressed air from the aircraft turbine drive high pressure compressor. USE/ADVANTAGE - To prevent aquaplaning and overrunning the runway by an aircraft during landing once the wheels have touched down and the braking phase has commenced.
