A multiple-layer sliding bearing having improved anti-fretting properties comprises a backing steel layer and a bearing alloy layer formed thereon. A phosphate film having a thickness of 0.1 - 15 mu m is formed on a back surface of the back steel layer to enhance anti-fretting. The film may comprise zinc phosphate, calcium zinc phosphate, manganese phosphate, and/or iron phosphate. The bearing alloy may be: Al - Sn, Al - Si - Sn, Al - Pb, Al - Si - Pb, Al - Zn, Al - Si - Zn, Cu - Pb, or Cu - Pb - Sn. The bearing may comprise a lead alloy overlay containing 2 - 30% Sn, In, Cu, or Sb, or an aluminium alloy overlay containing 2 - 60% Sn, Pb, Cu, Sb, or Si. |
