On the lorry chassis (1) is linked a ram (3) lifting and lowering the mechanically sprung trailer axle (8). The ram simultaneously drives a height-adjustable protection (20) against sliding underneath. It activates the protection via a coupling (22) in countercurrent manner. Thus, on lifting or lowering of the axle w.r.t the chassis, it lowers or lifts the protection. Pref. the coupling is formed by an inclined cylinder, coupled to the ram, which is secured to the chassis and has its piston rod free end coupled to the protection. ADVANTAGE - Simple design for reliable adjustment of both the trailer axle and protection against sliding underneath.
