HYDROXYALKYLCHITOSAN SALT, ITS PRODUCTION AND COSMETIC COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To provide a chitosan derivative which can give an aqueous solution having no clouding point and excellent heat stability and can keep high transparency for a long time. CONSTITUTION:A hydroxyalkylchitosan salt comprising hydroxyalkyl-chitosan and an organic or inorganic acid, a process for producing a hydroxyalkylchitosan salt comprising adding hydroxyalkylchitosan and an acid to water or an aqueous solvent and dissolving them to form a salt, and a cosmetic composition consisting essentially of an alcoholic or water/alcohol solution of the hydroxyalkylchitosan salt.
