PURPOSE: To make lubricating fluid flow to a bearing member when a vehicle goes up a hill to maintain an excellent lubricating performance by providing a side open trough into which the lubricating fluid is collected by a differential gear assembly and allowing the trough to be communicated with a second side open trough inclined forward and downward toward the centerline of the bearing member. CONSTITUTION: A tandem axle assembly of a large-sized truck comprises a first chamber 1 which stores a rotary ring gear of which the lower part is dipped in a lubricating fluid reservoir 28 and a second chamber 2 which stores a rotary differential gear assembly 14 of which lower part is dipped in a second lubricating fluid reservoir 32, both of which are contained in a case body 15. Also, a third chamber 3 which is separated through a partition wall 34 and stores a transmission gear is provided forward of the second chamber 2. Then, a first open-sided trough 38 is formed in the second chamber 2 between the walls of the case body 15 positioned opposedly to each other, and the trough 38 is communicated to a groove-shaped second open-sided trough 40 which extends downward and forward across the chamber 2 and formed in the third chamber 3 between the walls of the case body 15 positioned opposedly to each other. |
