PRODUCTION OF PARA-HYDROXYBENZOIC ACID AND MICROORGANISM USED FOR THE PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To enable to produce para-hydroxybenzoic acid from benzoic acid in a high yield and in a high selectivity by the utilization of a microorganism. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism belonging to the genus Penicillium or the genus Aspergillus having an ability to produce para-hydroxybenzoic acid from benzoic acid is cultured in a medium to accumulate the para-hydroxybenzoic acid in the culture solution, and the para-hydroxybenzoic acid is collected. The employment of Penicillium.janthinellum SD 802 strain or Aspergillus.flavipes SDSO 3 strain is preferable thereto.
