1,045,900. Blowing lances. DORTMUNDHORDER HUTTENUNION A.G. Dec. 7, 1964 [Jan. 9, 1964], No. 49726/64. Heading F4B. A lance for blowing gases and pulverulent solids into baths of molten metal comprises three delivery nozzles 9 with their axes parallel to the axis A-A of the lance, the surfaces 10 of the lance which contain the mouths of the nozzles intersecting the axes of the nozzles at acute angles so that the direction of the issuing jet is a function of the gas pressure at the nozzle mouth. An intermediate element 12 upstream of the nozzles has three intersecting frusto-conical bores 13 coaxial with the respective nozzles so that there are no surfaces normal to the axis of the lance to impede flow. Each nozzle 9 is eccentrically offset in a radially outward direction in a cooling duct 14. Coolant is supplied through an annular duct 4 and discharged through a concentric duct 5 via ducts 14, 15, 16 formed by cap members 6, 7, 8.
|
