PURPOSE:To give a car driver precise information matching either the traveling state of his car or the road condition by judging whether a predetermined traveling route of the car is in a safely travelable state or not, regarding a limit judging device for the car, which is used to detect an unstable traveling state and to judge whether a prescribed, unstable state is exceeded or not. CONSTITUTION:The position of his own car is detected by a global position system(GPS) (step S1). A predetermined traveling route is presumed, based on both position and advancing direction of his own car (step S2). Based on road map data, the predetermined traveling route is searched for the road condition in order to calculate, from this road condition, a threshold value S corresponding to a limit value, at which the car is able to travel safely (step S3). Based on output signals from various sensors mounted on the car, a car traveling state LMAX corresponding to slippage of the car is estimated (step S4). In case of LMAX>=SH, it is judged that the car is in a unstable state, and a warning lamp is turned on. (step S5). |
