PURPOSE:To provide a steam sterilizer capable of closing an opening and closing valve regularly at an optimum timing without effecting the influence of the temperature in a chamber at turning on a start switch and the quantity of a sterilizing material to be received in a chamber nor the influence of the atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION:A steam sterilizer is provided with an exhaust pipe 16 for exhausting saturated steam in a chamber 11; an opening and closing valve 17 provided in the course of the exhaust pipe 16; a temperature detector 15 for detecting the internal temperature provided in the chamber 11; a temperature gradient measuring part for measuring temperature gradient on the basis of the detected temperature by the temperature detector 15; and a control part for controlling the opening and closing valve 17 to close the exhaust pipe 16 after the lapse of a determined time from the point of time when the temperature gradient measured by the temperature gradient measuring part is less than a preset fixed value. |
