<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the shape of a surge tank so as to facilitate the manufacture of the surge tank, to reduce the manufacturing cost and to make the assembling work performance of the surge tank desirable, and omit a fitting bolt heretofore used for an opening/closing means for putting a valve body in opening/closing action in order to change the length of a surge tank intake passage so as to improve the assemblage of the opening/closing means besides improving engine performance by changing the length of the intake passage of the surge tank. CONSTITUTION:A surge tank 66 is formed of a lower tank 68 and an upper tank 70. A gasket with opening is interposed between the lower tank 68 and the upper tank 70 to form surge tank intake passages 74, 76 in the surge tank 66. An opening/closing means for opening/closing a valve body 100-6 in order to change the length of the intake passage of the surge tank according to the operating state of an engine is provided downstream of the surge tank intake passage.</p> |
