PURPOSE:To provide the subject improver containing a specific compound as an active ingredient, lowering the contents of triglycerides, cholesterol, and beta-lipoprotein, and useful for the improvement in various kinds of arteriosclerotic diseases, nephrosis, hyperlipidemia, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective lipid metabolism-improver contains a compound of the formula (R1 is H, lower alkyl; R2, R3 are OH, lower alkoxy, amino) or its pharmacologically acceptable salt as an active ingredient at a dose of 1-100mg per day for an adult in the case of an injection or at a dose of 10-1000mg per day for an adult in the case of an internal administration agent. The compound of the formula is obtained by extracting, isolating and purifying from yeast, bovine crystalline lens, etc., or by synthesizing from glutathione as a raw material compound.
