PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing an air bag, excellent in uniform coating properties of an elastomer and having high reliability. CONSTITUTION:Water is forcedly applied to a polyamide fiber fabric and the resultant fabric is subjected to physical relaxation during a period from the heat setting of the fabric to the winding of the coated fabric in a method for producing a base fabric for an air bag by heat setting the polyamide fiber fabric, then winding the heat set fabric, subsequently unwinding the wound fabric and coating the unwound fabric with an elastomer.
