<p>PURPOSE: To provide a paper web-cutting off device capable of surely cutting off the conveying paper web on detecting a tear of the paper web in a drying part of a paper making machine by using a cutting unit installed at a press part of its front stage and not inducing an unnecessary interruption of the paper making process by generating an erroneous action. CONSTITUTION: This paper web-cutting off device is provided by actuating a cutting off unit in a press part on detecting the tear of the paper web by comparing a spectrum of a color tone of a felt in a drying part generated by an actual tear of the paper web in a paper production cycle with a spectrum memorized in advance. In this case, the color tone of the felt is analyzed based on the spectrum values of red, green and blue, and as required on reflecting or transmitted light characteristics including its brightness, and memorized. There is no necessity of changing the structure of the dried felt, and it is possible to generate a signal indicating the tear of the paper web clearly and surely.</p> |
