The present invention relates to a process for the treatment of organic substances, in particular epichlorohydrin production effluents (waste waters) containing organochlorine compounds, the effluent leaving or discharged from the synthesis reactor, which effluent contains adsorbable organic halogen compounds (AOX) in an amount above 10 mg/l, preferably above 20 mg/l, being subjected to an at least two-stage dechlorination and/or dehydrochlorination treatment, by the effluent, which has a pH of 10 to 14 (measured at room temperature) or is adjusted to such a pH, being initially, in a first step, introduced into at least one further reactor and/or passing through this, a temperature of above 75 DEG C, a pressure of at least 1 bar (absolute) and a residence time of at least 0.5 hours being established or maintained in the reactor and the organochlorine compounds contained in the effluent being partially dechlorinated and/or dehydrochlorinated and then, in a second step, at least one further dechlorination and/or dehydrochlorination treatment being carried out, preferably in the presence of a hydrogen-containing gas or a compound releasing hydrogen and/or in the presence of a catalytically active substance and the treated effluent being subsequently discharged from the reactor or the reactors and/or being subjected to a biological treatment with the use of microorganisms. The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out the process.
|
