The brake for the electric motor (6,7) has a device for electric braking (20,21,22) and a mechanical brake which operates until the motor stops, and deactivated when the motor receives a supply. The mechanical brake works by centrifugal force from the rotation of the motor. It has brake shoes (10) on the solid support (9) of the rotor acting against the brake lining of the fixed brake by means of a spring (15) and is compact in a tube of the motor. The electric brake uses short-circuit in the motor terminals and uses a continuous current in the case of an alternating current motor. The brake body (3) is in the form of a circular cover with a rotor (6) and bearing (8). A rod (5) supports the brake pad in a drum body (9a). The drum has two diametrically opposed indentations with a pair of opposing brake pads (10,11) in the form of circular segments. The brake pads have a housing in the form of a pair of horns (12,13) and support the brake-pad about the axis (14). The centrifugal force is limited by pins (16,17).
