BOILING WATER REACTOR

PURPOSE: To obtain an improved boiling water reactor increasing the level of reactor water while providing a space for guiding control rods from a core to draw out the same. CONSTITUTION: A pressure container 12 is filled with reactor water 38 up to the usual water level L traversing a steam separator assembly 34. A chimmey 22 contains a plurality of the channels 48 arranged on a core 16 and guide slots are demarcated between the adjacent channels and receive control rods 44 when the control rods are selectively upwardly moved to the outside of the reactor by a control rod driver 46. The control rods are selectively upwardly drawn out of the reactor by the control rod driver 46 and also downwardly inserted into the core thereby. The control rod driver can release control rods selectively to insert them into the reactor under gravity.
