A mixing valve has a control knob which is pushed-in to close the valve, and pulled-out to open the valve the water temperature being controlled by rotating the knob. The latter is of transparent plastic having an annular recess part of which is cut away to define the limits of rotation; a central boss which houses the valve stem 27, Fig. 4, is surrounded by the skirt 29 of a coloured plate 28 of such material as nylon. An arm 31 depends from the plate 28 and is received in an opening in the valve 32 so holding the plate stationary. The upper surface of the plate 28 has a red portion 32 (Fig. 5, not shown), and a blue portion 34 the junction 35 between which is of arcuate shape. An opaque plate 36, Fig. 4, located in a depression 37 in the outer surface of the knob, is provided with a window so enabling the colour or colours on the plate 28 to be seen, which colours indicate the water temperature. The knob may be of metal with a window therethrough.</p> |
