PURPOSE:To adjust phases when a new recording is made on an already recorded magnetic tape by holding a phase difference between a reproducing signal and a reference phase signal when a recording and a reproducing are simultaneously operated beforehand, setting the delayed time of a delaying memory based on this held signal and delaying a recording signal by the delaying memory at the time of recording. CONSTITUTION:A phase difference between the reference phase signal and the synchronizing signal of the reproducing signal or a phase difference with an address signal is obtained by a phase difference detecting means 7 and it is outputted to magnetic tape driving means (2, 3, 9 to 12) as a phase difference signal. The output of a phase difference detecting means 7 is latched by a phase difference signal latching means 17. The delaying time of a delaying memory 14 for time-delaying the recording signal is set by a delaying time setting means 18 based on a signal held by the phase difference signal latching means 17.
