PURPOSE:To obtain a sealed lead-acid battery, of which cycle lifetime is prolonged and of which recoverability of capacity after a long term storage is improved, by adding stannic oxide and stannous sulfate in the positive electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:Stannic oxide and stannous sulfate are added in the positive electrode active material. Since the stannic oxide as a conductor is mixed in the sulfate generated after a discharge, the generation of a passive state layer in the grid interface can be restricted to restrict the deterioration of a battery and prolong a cycle lifetime and improve the recoverability after a long term storage. As the positive electrode active material, unformed active material mainly composed of tetrabasic sulfate is used, and the total addition quantity of the stannic oxide and the stannous sulfate to the whole of the positive electrode active material quantity is set at 0.01-5wt.%, and a ratio of the stannic oxide to the total addition quantity of tin compound is desirably set at 5-20wt.%. |
