A governing mechanism for automatic governing of the rotational speed of a hydraulic motor 12, e.g. for driving a gravelling device in dependency of a varying movement, preferably a rotation such as a tachometer cable 2 in a motor vehicle. The mechanism comprises two means 7, 8 engaged by thread with each other, of which the first 7 is adapted to rotation as well as axial movement while the second 8 is adapted to rotation only. A governing valve 10 for the hydraulic motor 12 is adjusted by means of axial movement of the thread means 7, whereby the rotational speed of the hydraulic motor 12 increases when the first thread means 7 moves axially. The hydraulic driving motor 12 is drivably connected to the second thread means 8 such that the rotational speed of the latter increases when the first thread means 7 moves axially. <IMAGE>
