Flow regulation for whirlpool bath using action built into pump - requires adjustable short circuit flow path between outlet and pump inlet using movable orifice plate

A whirlpool bath has a number of nozzles supplied with aerated water under pressure. The water is circulated between a bath outlet and the nozzles by a pump. Typically the pump is a centrifugal type with an impeller (14) coupled to the drive spindle of a motor. Flow is drawn in through a central tube (7) coupled to the bath outlet and is discharged through a tangential tube (4). The flow delivered to the nozzles can be regulated by returning the flow from the pump chamber (13) to the inlet chamber (16) via a controlled aperture provided by openings (20) in fixed (19) and movable (21) plates. The movable plate can be externally adjusted to provide the required flow. USE/ADVANTAGE - Has flow regulation internally integrated into pump. Method now more cost effective.
