Electroencephalographic wave analysis using power spectrum peak detection - investigating presence or absence of maxima in power spectrum of each EEG rhythm frequency band in extracted spectrum

The EEG signals are filtered (1) in an analogue or digital manner for extn. of the delta, theta, alpha and beta rhythms. The presence or absence of peaks or maxima in the spectrum for each frequency band is detected (14) and any peak value is memorised and displayed (16). The input filter (11) passes any signal component in the 0.5 to 30.5 Hz frequency band for digitisation (12). Component of 1 Hz width are extracted (13) for peak detection in successive subbands. ADVANTAGE - The brain wave analysis is guaranteed to be free from false indications and to correspond well to the results of clinical monitoring.
