Luminescent diode comprises night-parallepiped transparent semiconductor chip, provided with layers to produce radiation. The chip has a front side, a metallised reverse side as contact and securing part; and planar side surface. The planar side surfaces (8) from the front side (3) to at least half are covered with a reflection-reducing layer (9). Prodn. of a number of luminescent diodes in a disc binding is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used as semiconductor diodes. The degree of effectiveness is increased by improving the coupling of the radiation produced in the diode.
