The shaft (1) has a milled groove (5) with a depth equal to half the diameter of the ball bearings (3). This groove aligns with a groove (6) cut into the inside of the other component (2), e.g. a hub, and cut with a similar depth and width. The trapped ball bearings transmit the torque and prevent relative movement of the two components. The groove in the shaft is produced by a simple milling action, the groove in the other component is produced by an axial drill/miller. The two components are secured by axial alignment. ADVANTAGE - Simple coupling system, requires only shallow grooves, minimum weakening of components.
