SWASH PLATE TYPE HYDRAULIC MACHINE

A hydraulic machine having a split swash-plate (22, 24) supported primarily by the same main bearing (32) in which a drive shaft (30) driving the hydraulic machine rotates. The inclination of the split swash-plate is adjusted by an axially movable servo mechanism (figure 5), arranged concentric to the drive shaft. Embodiments include various gimballed-yoke supports (figures 12, 13) for the non-rotating portion of the split swash-plate, various designs for a rotating valve-plate (237, 335, 435), and a radial valve system (figures 19, 20). The hydraulic machine can be embodied as a pump, a motor, or two units mounted side-by-side (figure 21), one acting as a pump and the other as a motor, with integrated fluid passageways for transferring fluid between the units.
