<p>A transceiver (101) for transmitting and receiving spread spectrum signals having an adaptive threshold for distinguishing between valid receive data signals and noise. The transceiver includes a transmitter (205, 207) for transmitting spread spectrum signals and a receiver (210) for receiving spread spectrum signals. A correlator (210) correlates a received signal against an expected receive pattern. The correlation of the received signal is compared to a threshold value (211). If the correlation exceeds the threshold value (211), a carrier detect signal is generated (212). The number of false carrier detect signals occurring within a predetermined period of time is determined. The threshold value is varied according to the number of false carrier detects.</p> |
