In a device for preparing and dispensing CO2-containing refreshing beverages by admixture of a beverage concentrate to carbonated water prepared in a cooled reservoir, CO2-free refreshing beverages may also be prepared and dispensed by arranging a branching system (24) downstream of the pressure pump for filling the reservoir, through which water selectively and alternatively flows through the carbonating reservoir or through a heat exchanger to the mixing area with the beverage concentrate. The heat exchanger is fed on several sides from the reservoir.
