The hopper has one or more chambers with loading and dumping hatchways, and is lifted and emptied by crane. A rotary head (11) on the crane jib couples rigidly to the hopper wall (1), and has a drive mechanism for the bottom dumping hatches (2). The head can have a supporting bolt (14) on its axis of rotation, engaging in a mating slot (3) in the top of the hopper above the latter's centre of gravity, locking devices being provided at the slot. These can consist of four positioning blocks (4) arranged in a rectangle inside the hopper. These are in two pairs of different heights, those of the same height being diagonally opposite each other.
