<p>An apparatus and method for measuring the capacitance of a capacitor or the variable capacitance of a capacitive sensor (10). The capacitor is charged from a current source and the time required to charge the capacitor to a voltage level is measured. An output signal linearly proportional to the time required to charge the capacitor to the voltage level is produced. An application of the sensor to the measurement of the change in length of a telescoping device (8) such as a shock absorber is also disclosed.</p> |
