Analogue multiplication of two analogue parameters - uses interaction of magneto optical element with associated Hall effect layer with output dependent upon Hall input current and focussed laser

The multiplication of two analogue parameters (XY) is achieved with a device that uses a magneto optical layer (2) for handling one parameter and a Hall effect element (4) for the other parameter. The magneto optical layer is exposed to a focussed laser (10) and the content of the region (A) is laser (10) and the content of the region (A) is dependent upon the parameter (X). The current (I) applied to the Hall layer is proportional to the other parameter (Y). The product of the laser effect upon the region and the Hall effect produces an output voltage (UH) that is proportional to the product (XY). USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved analogue multiplication.
