On an airjet spinning frame the drafting zone consists of three roller pairs, with aprons on the middle pair. The bottom fillers are metallic, and top rollers are elastomer. The bottom output roller is fluted across the width, with a smooth outer surface on each section forming an arc longer than the intermediary gap. On the output driven steel roller (17) of the drafting zone; the top surface arc (23) of each sector is of the same length, as are the slots (24). The arc of the sector (23) is up to three times longer than the slot (22). ADVANTAGE - The design enables impurities to be removed from the fibre before entering the airjet, reducing the number of breaks in the yarn.
