The lamp comprises a bulb made of quartz glass, which surrounds a discharge vol. as discharge vessel (27) or as outer bulb (1) having two high temp. resistant electrodes and a filling of metal halide. Light is emitted with a daylight-similar spectrum and a colour temp. of 5000-6000 K. The bulb glass is doped with a Ce-contg. cpd., in which the pure Ce amt. is 0.065-0.65%. Pref. the Ce amt. is 0.15-0.45%, based on 1mm wall thickness of the bulb glass. The bulb glass is doped with a Ti-contg. cpd., in which the pure Ti amt. is upto 0.05%. The pure Ti amt. is esp. 0.02-0.03%. The Ce cpd. is the tri- or tetra-valent Ce oxide or a mixed oxide Ce cpd., contg. one or more other metals other than Ce. The Ti cpd. is an oxide of Ti. The bulb has a wall thickness of 0.7-5.0mm. ADVANTAGE - The amt. of UV radiation completely absorbed under 315nm does not influence the colour temp..
