摘要 An energy storage system and process and apparatus for its utilization in which stored energy is released in an induced symmetry break in a material lattice structure (170). An absorbable atom such as hydrogen or its isotopes is loaded into a material such as palladium or titanium or alloys thereof to a high degree to the point where an electron orbital degeneracy is induced placing the crystal in an elevated but stable potential state. This system is triggered out of the elevated stable state with the resulting release of energy in the form of heat which is captured, through a heat exchanger (178), by a heat engine (182) where it is turned into work, electricity or other energy medium.
